jfb-wines Tasting of the vintage 12012 at Domaine Bachey-LegrosThree consecutive tastings of the 2012 vintage at Domaine Bachey-Legros have convinced me that the quality of this estate is reaching a very high level.

The sixth generation, represented by the two young brothers Samuel and Lenaïc Legros, are running the domaine closeley with their mother, Mrs. Christiane Bachey-Legros and they do definitely a great job.
The vineyards are located mainly in Santenay : 12 ha, Chassagne-Montrachet : 3,5 ha, and Maranges : 3,5 ha.
The oldest vines were planted in 1935 and 1950, which explains the noble style of the wines.

- Santenay « Clos des Hâtes » :
The vineyard covers two hectares. The wine is aged in oak casks with 25% new oak. Bottling took place end of November 2013.
The colour  is of an intense purple red. The nose shows breed and finesse. On the palate, it is a perfect combination of body and elegance , with a touch of spice.
This wine will age nicely.

- Santenay 1er cru Clos Rousseau :
Vines are 60 year s old. The soil is only one meter deep before the rock.
The colour is of an intense purple red. There is great finesse in the nose. On the palate, tanins are silky.

- Santenay 1er cru Clos Rousseau « Vieilles Vignes » Les Fourneaux :
The oldest vines were planted before 1914. Only six casks were made of this wine. Yields are very low : 35 Hectolitres/ Hectare. Fermentation takes place in stainlesss steel . There is no fining, just a very light filtration.
The colour is deep red . The nose shows a lot of breed. On the palate, tanins are very fine. It is a pleasant combination of body and finesse, with a hint of spice. The wine lingers nicely.

- Meursault « Chevalières » :
This wine shows a pale and fresh golden colour. The nose and the palate are generous, full, clean and round.

- Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru Morgeot :
The wine shows the typical young golden colour of great Burgundies. The Chardonnay grape variety combined with this great « terroir » gives a very distinguished nose. The palate is full bodied, round and yet fresh and lively. This silky wine is a piece of art that lingers a long time on the palate.
